“For the arts and culture sector, creating togetherness is the greatest power we have.”
It’s a power, said Andrew Recinos, President and CEO of Tessitura, that helps carry us through uncertain times.
“The arts and culture sector, especially right now, […] can feel like it’s been plunged into darkness,” Andrew continued. “Our noble work of connecting people with arts, science, history and human expression is being defunded, sidelined, canceled.”
Yet amid looming pressure, Andrew finds four traits help leaders exude light in the most challenging circumstances: acceptance, momentum, grit and hope. They become exponentially more powerful when harnessed together with community.
In this talk delivered at the Tessitura Learning and Community Conference in Anaheim, California, Andrew shares stories from organizations that have tapped these traits to persevere and create a brighter future.
“Because togetherness is the antidote to the darkness, this work has never been more important,” Andrew remarked.
