A deep partnership with Tessitura keeps Omaha Performing Arts at the forefront of the city’s cultural scene.

The performing arts center presents a wide variety of programming across its multivenue campus. Performances range from dance to comedy, from intimate jazz concerts to Broadway touring series.

To support their busy event calendar, Omaha Performing Arts (O-pa) needs powerful tools including flexible ticketing, insightful analytics and robust fraud prevention. Fortunately, they have Tessitura.

Forecasting with Tessitura Analytics

One of the tools they’ve implemented is a series of dashboards in Tessitura Analytics. In Tessitura v16, the team can examine customer journeys and explore powerful forecasting capabilities. Not only are those insights essential to their marketing team, but the v16 tools offer valuable efficiencies.

“I can actually use forecasting and not have to manually pull data out into an Excel file,” said Ashley Voorhees, Vice President of Patron Services. “We can just use the dashboard to report on information.”

“It’s been saving me time. I can account it to about three to five hours each week,” she reported. That time “allows me to analyze the data to help make better decisions for the organization and for other departments.”

The team can see their goals clearly and visualize how close they are to achieving them. They can drill down into details such as units versus revenue.

Plus, Tessitura dashboards are easily shared across teams. “We can take this information and automatically send it out to anybody in the organization,” Ashley noted.

Meeting the high standards of a Broadway series

Those analytics help O-pa meet the demands of managing their Broadway touring series. “A lot of the time, Broadway shows like to see: How are we comparing? This analytics dashboard that we have helps me understand sales trends: How far are we out compared to others, weeks out before on-sale, weeks out after on-sale,” Ashley said. “It’s been a wonderful opportunity.”

These visualizations of sales numbers help the O-pa team keep their Broadway partners informed. The insights also help the marketing team adjust their tactics to fill the house and maximize revenue.

Audience members fill the Orpheum Theater.

Bringing in audiences is just the first step. “The support we get from Tessitura gives a great patron experience,” Ashley commented. “They have the ease of being able to go online to renew their subscription, buy a new subscription [and] see their seating information. They can also opt for digital ticket delivery. Our customers have always loved having the flexibility.”

These positive customer experiences build loyalty that helps sustain the organization.

Preventing fraud while saving money

High-demand experiences can be a magnet for unauthorized resellers or fraud actors. Fortunately, Tessitura has tools to help. Ashley noted several improvements once O-pa moved to Tessitura’s payment solution.

“We are a Tessitura Merchant Services client, and one of the things we have seen is the success in the 3D Secure implementation,” Ashley said. “We’ve also seen a reduction in chargebacks. Fraud rules have helped prevent a lot of chargebacks […] before the show even happens."

Ashley also noted that Tessitura Merchant Services’ monthly rate is lower than that of their previous provider. Those reduced ongoing costs plus the drop in chargebacks, she said, “have saved money for our organization and our consortium members.”

A true partnership with Tessitura

All these elements come together because O-pa works in close collaboration with Tessitura.

“One of my favorite things about having Tessitura at Omaha Performing Arts is the partnership. They listen,” Ashley explained.

“We’ve been able to implement things that help benefit our organization.”
