When was the last time you experienced awe?
According to psychologist Dacher Keltner, awe is the emotion we feel when we encounter vast mysteries we don’t understand. In his research, Keltner shows that people who regularly experience awe are more creative, curious and optimistic. Awe can reduce chronic pain and boost immunity. In short, awe is good for your health.
“Embrace awe in yourself to elevate awe at your organization.”
So, how can arts and culture venues — which burst at the seams with awe-inspiring moments — tell that story better? In a live session at the 2023 Tessitura Learning and Community Conference in Melbourne, Andrew Recinos offered three steps to becoming an awe-centric organization. In his talk, the Tessitura President and CEO also shared why doing so is not only good for audiences but also good for business.
